Test Description

The Anti-Cardiolipin IgA/G/M Ab test is a blood test that measures the levels of three types of antibodies (IgA, IgG, and IgM) produced by the immune system against cardiolipins, which are phospholipids found in cell membranes and platelets. The test is used to investigate inappropriate blood clot formation, recurrent miscarriage, antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), and other autoimmune diseases

Indications of Anti Cardiolipin Antibody Test

The Anti-Cardiolipin IgA/G/M Ab test is indicated for individuals suspected of having APS, a condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks phospholipids in the body, leading to excessive clotting and an increased risk of thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, thromboembolism, thrombocytopenia, and/or recurrent miscarriages

Patient Preparation/Instructions

No special preparation is required for the Anti-Cardiolipin IgA/G/M Ab test. However, patients should inform their healthcare provider of any medications they are taking, as some drugs can induce the production of cardiolipin antibodies
